Four days since I last posted

Saturday:

So much has happened in the four days since I last posted.  Saturday, of course was the 4th, and a delightful event out at Fort Worden in Port Townsend.  Before we went out there, Brian had the goal of felling the two trees for the front porch posts and getting them out of the forest.  Once Brian used the pressure washer to take the soil and rocks away from the roots, Michael helped him get it out.

Sunday:

We also pressure washed some big rocks and chose two to use as supports under the cedar posts.IMG_6939

Monday:

After and early start with the housing crew, leaving them working on the roof and the fascia, Brian and I took off toward Sequim and Port Angeles to do some shopping and visit our friends who built a larger Topsider double octagon house.  OK, I admit it….there is a Chinese buffet in Port Angeles that in season has all you can eat dungeness crab.  It was prepared with ginger and green onions, my favorite style, and was fabulous…all for something like $12/person.  At about 50 miles, it is far to drive for dinner, but paired with a visit with Gary and Lani Smith, it isn’t bad. Gary has turned into quite a gardener, and this time shared some of the five different varieties of garlic he grew this year…as well as some peas and carrots. When they visited a couple of months ago, they share some of the best spinach I have ever eaten.

Tuesday:

IMG_6944Big construction day on Tuesday.  Last night at home, Randy made some supports for the big rocks to embed them in the concrete.  IMG_6954Brian brought the rocks over toward the front of the house using the backhoe.  They are about 500 pounds and we are still not quite sure how they will be put in place.IMG_6957
